I Understand The Internet Has Now Been Around For 40 Years. Happy Birthday!
So, it is now 40 years since the internet was initially used. Who could have believed, in those early days, how big it would become in such a comparatively short period?
I recall, as a young child, thinking how fortunate were such people as Alexander Graham Bell, being able to invent the telephone. Others had invented wireless, television, camera. What was there remaining for those of my generation to think of? It is fortunate others had more vision than I did. We now benefit from electronic games, pda’s, CDs and many other wonderful items which I could not have thought of as a child.
On the 40th anniversary of the internet, it is interesting to see the changes we have encountered in the way PCs are used over this time. In the early days, there was no w3, so the internet was not the same as we think of today when we say we use it.
Not every business had use of PCs 40 years ago, without considering people having multiple PCs in their house. Even as late as the 1990’s the company where I was employed had just one computer which would connect to the web and all staff had to access this in order to connect with the internet.
At that time, the idea of using a search engine was completely alien. Now Search Engine Placement is understood, by both companies and individuals, to be an important part of internet experience. Seo companies have evolved, in order to assist companies improve their search engine positioning.
