SEO Test For Bing Listing.
I have got a site that provides SEO for pro marriage and portrait photographers.
I could say that all my research was done to prove I know the way in which the search bots grade sites and make it sound like I have inside knowledge of the system. On second thought i guess I should because that ;d be a big increase in business and I could raise my charge from forty dollars per month to one or two hundred.
- Content
- HTML
- Keyword Tags
- Title Tags
Truth is most of my research comes from making slightly dumb mistakes and not finding out what they were after the fact. My first discovery was for a site I have selling platinum marriage bands. It ranks high in Bing and I usually believed it was due to the description tags I spend ages perfecting. You know, add a word or move them around to fit the top sites to give the site the best chance for top position. One night after hours of work I uploaded the wrong page which totally changed my title, description and content. A couple of days later I went to check the site and found my mistake. Fortunate for me it had mover up one position and had the new description and title that didn;t have anything to do with the jewelry site. A description of my photography marketing site.
This proves to me that the search automated robots are not that bright and that tags have little to do with search position. It looks like the site name, content and links are what is really in control. My other site Photography Promotion which is a marketing site for photographers was a new name and I assumed it would most likelytake several weeks to even be found. I started by off site S.E.O work and concentrated on design of the page. Using a free web editor I had tons of issues and couldnt learn the program. I then broke down and attempted Dream Weaver. It was a lot nearer to the style editor I had been using and I ultimately felt in charge of my design. Since I had to start over designing the site I thought I;d work on the tags at a later time.
After one or two days I saw my site numbers going up and performed a search. The site hit page one within a week of being published. No tags apart from the title lots of content. Again this appears to prove not that less than perfect website designers can get listed but both Google and Bing don’t pay much attention to tags and rely on content and links.
The base line is you need to design a site that;s easy to read and make it simple for the search bots to read.
Don’t worry too much about the technical side and concentrate on content and links. The keyword counts and number of bold tags, may not make much difference. Naturally many will still charge thousands to implement changes to your internet site and you{ may see a rise in search position but it most likely came from the links they attached. You just can’t charge as much pronouncing all that you need are some links. Total site redesign makes a lot more profit.
