Tips for Landing JV Deals and Picking Up Affiliates

JV stand for Joint Venture. A JV deal is any kind of deal where two or more internet marketers agree to either create products together, help each other market, or anything else they can think of. When it comes to finding JV partners, you need to do a little research. Find out your competitors, and people selling similar products, or products that compliment your own. See if you can find their email from a personal site or blog.

The biggest mistake that most eager affiliates make when approaching someone for a JV deal is a complete lack of confidence. If you feel that you have something to bring to the table, let the world know! Don’t feel that just because you are beginning your foray into the internet marketing world that you can’t land a big deal.

Make your approach very personal. Don’t send out the same email to 300 people and expect great results. Rather, take the time to completely research your target, and what kind of market and customers they have. If you are selling a boat repair guide, you won’t have much success approaching someone that is trying to sell a knitting book. Let them know exactly how you can help their customers, as well as the partner too.

You’ll need to offer something to this JV, simply asking them to blindly promote you won’t get you very far. Offer them direct facts, such as your refund rate, your average daily sales, your return on investment, etc. ALWAYS offer your product free for them to play with and review, and they will generally do the same for you. YOU are the one asking for help, so give THEM something to work with.

Many affiliates will offer potential partners a discounted price for their customers, or a higher affiliate payout. This is something I like to do, I offer a very generous 75% payout. For every affiliate of mine that sells my product, they will earn 75% of the total asking price.

If you have a list, this is a great way to snag a good cross promotion. A cross promotion is a deal between two affiliates where both of them will send each other’s product to their own customer list. Say you are selling a boat repair guide, and I’m selling a Boat insurance guide. With a cross promotion, you will promote my boat insurance guide to your list, and I’ll promote your boat repair guide to my own list. This can be a fast and painless way to net immediate sales, and future partners.

If you have a technical product that is not easily used or a subscription site that you are trying to JV with, try making a video demonstrating the features. I recommend using a product called Camtasia. It’s considered an industry standard.

Another great tool is to simply post your JV offer for others to see on popular forums. There is even a forum dedicated solely to JV promotions. However, I wouldn’t recommend simply going there and spamming the JV area. Take the time to visit the forum and make some contributing posts. You won’t find a better forum, in my opinion.
