Portal Feeder Review – What I Love And Hate About Portal Feeder
Portal Feeder opens up its doors from time to time and sometime in the next few months, you will have a chance to join. You can get on the list now to be the first to hear when they open.
Meanwhile, here is a Portal Feeder review from someone who really knows what it’s like inside – me!
I have been a member since they opened up to the general public in March/April 2007. It doesn’t happen often. I remember I signed up to the notification list before the very first launch in December 2005, but I was not quite ready to join then. I had to wait 15 months until they let people in again, and then I was ready!
What I Love About Portal Feeder
1. The Portal Feeder Forum
For me this is the heart of Portal Feeder membership. In the forum every day you have the owners of Portal Feeder, the support staff, 6 mentors and of course the other members. You can find out pretty much anything you want to know about internet marketing, from how to fix something technical that is wrong with your site through what is the best automatic posting tool for blogs – and how to get it free if you’re a member.
2. The Mentors
I already mentioned the mentors in #1, but they do deserve a whole section to themselves. When you become a member you will be assigned to a mentor but you will find they all pitch in and help with any problem that you raise on the forum. They are all running successful online businesses with different specialties and the combination of their skills is what makes the Portal Feeder forum what it is – everything from first grade to graduate school for internet marketers.
3. The Contests!
I know this is going to sound stupid, but bear with me here. Portal Feeder has awesomely well designed contests that just force you to learn stuff. Compared to the boot camp (see ‘What I Hate About Portal Feeder’ below) they are so much more hands-on and focused.
The contests started around 2 months after I joined and the first one was about how many WordPress blogs could you set up in 3 weeks. There were certain rules you had to follow and a very detailed training PDF but that was the main point of it.
When I first saw this contest I thought, what are we, ten years old? But it worked! People who had never set up a single WordPress blog before, finally learned how to do it, and the guy who won built 21 new blogs!
I had one WordPress blog already (www.the-success-project.com) but I realized from the training that it was terrible in terms of SEO. I built 6 more for the contest and I also used the training to optimize my existing blog with the result that it finally got indexed by Google and was awarded page rank in the next round. Okay it’s only PR1 but considering I only post to it two or three times a month I think that is pretty good. Some of my 6 new niche blogs have page rank too and I’m getting Adsense and affiliate clicks.
Another contest focused on creating content. I wrote around 60 new niche articles and won
And as a result of that I set up a whole new business writing and selling PLR article packs – see it at www.flamillion.com
4. The Software
I can’t go into detail here because it’s all proprietary software and top secret, but there is pretty much everything you need to build AND PROMOTE a virtual real estate empire. You’ll find a lot of site building software out there of course but Portal Feeder 2.0 is special. And there are not many membership sites that offer even a tiny fraction of the promotion tools that are available.
What I have learnt from Portal Feeder is that you have to apply the 80/20 rule on VRE sites and spend 80% of your time on promotion for 20% of time site building. Promotion is that important. It’s not what most of us want to hear but it’s the truth. Portal Feeder has taught me a ton of promotion methods that I never heard of before, never mind used. The results are spectacular.
What I Hate About Portal Feeder
1. The Boot Camp
The Portal Feeder boot camp is the longest and most comprehensive boot camp I have ever seen. It contains training for a full 23 days and that is not including the videos on the software, which you don’t even get to see until lesson 15. I feel pretty mean criticizing it because there is so much in there, I have to admit it’s a great boot camp. I started off full of enthusiasm in my first few days of membership, and made it to lesson 4. Then the next month I think I reached lesson 11, and there I stopped.
Now if you are a person who likes to understand everything about what you are going to do before you ever start, you will love the Portal Feeder boot camp. You will be in heaven. But I think most of us have a more hands-on approach to internet marketing. We want to read like 2 pages of instructions (maybe) and then start getting out there and doing it.
So I just went ahead using the contests and the forum and picking up all the other different sections of the training as I needed them. And here I admit the truth – in 7 months of being a Portal Feeder member I have STILL not graduated from the boot camp
However, this does prove that you can profit hugely from Portal Feeder as I have done without finishing the boot camp, especially if you already know something about stuff like keyword research. So if you find yourself stuck in boot camp hell after you join Portal Feeder, just go ahead and go AWOL, that’s my advice!
There is a ton of other training inside Portal Feeder that will help you if you already know what you want to do. Just look for some PF training specific to building a site, a blog, promotion, or whatever you are ready for and START. Then fine tune it afterward.
Do the contests too, all of them, if you possibly can. Winning doesn’t matter, it’s what you learn for your business in the process that counts.
And the other thing you can do when you are a member is get in touch with me. You will see me in the forum – my username is Rosie (original, huh?). Here’s the same photo that I use in there too. If you join through my link I will give you support through one-to-one mentoring if you need it. So there is no need to feel overwhelmed by all that Portal Feeder offers. Just PM me in the forum and I will help all I can.
One last thing. This is not a get rich quick scheme but a medium term online business solution and you need to be able to afford the membership fee until you get into profit. How long that takes will depend on you. But Portal Feeder will give you everything you need to set up a solid work from home business.
I strongly recommend Portal Feeder for anyone who is serious about setting up an online business and especially if you want to create a hands-free VRE empire.
