Search Engine Optimization Tools That Work!

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is the process of making a website easy to find in a search engine when people search for a particular topic related to your content.

For example, if you have developed a web page promoting dating services, you will want your website to appear near the top of the first page of the search engine results when someone searches for “dating services”. The better your search engine ranking, the more visitors will access your website. No one will find your website if it doesn’t show up until page 50. Most people don’t search past the first or second page, unfortunately.

There are numerous ways to optimize your web pages in the search engine results both within your website and outside of it, also known as on-page SEO and off-page SEO.

What is on-page SEO, in case you don’t already know? It’s what you can do within your website to manipulate the search engine results. For example, some say that duplicate content on your website hurts your search engine ranking because search engines use algorithms and “search bots” to decide if the information on your website is a duplicate of the content of another similar website that is already ranked. Some people claim it doesn’t matter at all.

Also, research what words, or phrases, an individual might input into a search engine to find the information they are looking for, so that you can assign these keywords to your web pages. Assigning the most targeted and effective keywords can have a huge impact on how much traffic you will get to your website. This is because search engines generally check the content of each page to make sure that the information is relevant to the keywords you have assigned. Makes sense … but this is definitely something you’ll want to focus on a LOT when first starting out because it can be fairly a complicated process. You’ll most likely end up re-doing your keywords and content a few times before you get the hang of it. I certainly did!

Off-page SEO is a bit trickier. A lot of people say that off-page SEO is even more important than on-page SEO when it comes to how the search engines rank your web pages. The best, and most effective, example of off-page SEO is getting links back to your website from other web pages, otherwise known as “back-links”. The more links you have back to your web pages, the more the search engines believe that your information is relevent and reliable. If you have a lot of back-links to your website, it must be great, right?

There are a number of techniques and “tricks” to optimize your website and every single course or software package will promise the world when it comes to SEO. So, do they deliver?

There are tons of great products out there, so do your research and find out which one is best for YOU!
