How The Release Of Apple’s iPad Has An Unpredicted Benefit To Those Who Work On The Internet

The release of Apple’s iPad, though belated, is positive news for who work for an Internet Business and means that they Work From Home. Most employees
engaged in such work will do the majority of their work takes place in their home or apartment office, but occasionally there may be a requirement to be out and about, mostly onsite visits to clients.

Frequently, if travelling by rail, there is the opportunity of a free wifi connection so that one is able to perform Online Jobs which is fine for anyone using a laptop. But the recent events where an Icelandic volcano went off and spewed hundreds of thousands of tonnes of ash high into the atmosphere have given a captivating outlook, because what occurred next was that, whenever the prevailing breeze changed to the down over northern Europe and the Atlantic resulting in huge disturbance to air travel.

For many this was a very happy event and one to be dearly to be hoped for, if they found themselves stranded in holiday resorts and unable to return home, a odd piece of Euro regulation required the airlines to cover the cost their accommodation and 3 meals a day. It was intended to halt to airlines cancelling overnight flights, certainly not for those stranded for days leading to weeks on end because of the powers that be banning all flights. After all, train businesses, the worst offenders, do not face anything like the same kind of consequence when they cancel services, which they often do (including turning stopping trains into through services AFTER the train has left the first station but is running late).

But for some of those stranded, the situation was not so lucky. Those who are self employed found themselves unable to return home and for every day that they were missing from work, they were not getting paid and monetary reimbursment would not be forthcoming as they were not covered by travel insurance.

However, for those who own or are employed by an Internet Business or have Online Jobs could find themselves in situation where they could almost Work From Home or wherever they found themselves, by however they don’t come with wifi), and as the iPad go to the beach.

Of course the connection via a 3G link can be costly. It is worked out that a two minute phone call by means of Skype over a 3G connection can be as much as £5 (it’ll be free person-to-person on a wifi connection) but any cost incurred can at least be charged back at some future time so there would not be any long term loss of earnings.

I’m sure that the designers and marketers of the iPad didn’t predict this as a sat down to decide what features they could add that there is an outstanding reason for getting one, and so getting over one of the main questions that people have about the iPad. Not ‘what is it for?’, instead ‘how much could it save its owner when there is an Act of God?’
