High Earning Online Business - How To Get Yours
Are you looking for a high earning online business? Are you bored in your dull 9 to 5 job, or stressed out of your mind by a tight schedule or a demanding boss? Do you want the chance to make a lot more income that your current job pulls in? Do you want to spend your time at home with your kids, but earn at the same time? If you do, then online business may be for you.
One kind of online opportunity that has brought home business success for many people is affiliate marketing. Here, you are promoting other people’s products. This has some advantages and some disadvantages.
Advantages of affiliate marketing
- You do not have to deal with any customer service issues. The product owner handles that.
- You can go away on vacation for 2 weeks leaving everything running without having to hire staff to cover for your absense. You do not have any products to ship out - the product owner handles that too - and there will be no emails from angry customers on your return.
- You can specialize in pretty much anything that there is a market for. For example, if you are a golfer you can set up a golf-related website or email newsletter. You can promote good golf equipment and related items that your subscribers will like. They will know that you are a genuine golfer like them sharing their concerns and so they will trust you. You will probably enjoy doing it this way too.
- Another example would be if you are a mom of small children, you could write about toys and kids’ clothes, baby equipment, or vacationing with kids, and promote products related to those subjects.
- Your job as an affiliate is to refer traffic to the product owner’s site using your special link. You can do this pretty much any way you like. There will be some rules (no spam, etc) but you have a lot of choice. You do not have to cover everything, you can concentrate on what you do best. Possible ways to send traffic are:
- Your own large content-rich website that carries ads for affiliate products
- A one-page website that is just a ’squeeze page’ where you offer something for free in return for the visitor’s email, then you send them emails that promote the affiliate products
- Paid advertising, including pay-per-click (Google Adwords etc)
- Writing articles and submitting them to article directories with a link to your site in the resource box
- Setting up pages on high traffic sites like Squidoo and Hub Pages, to drive people to your affiliate link or your site
- Using related online forums
Disadvantages of affiliate marketing
- You only get a percentage of the earnings. For example with most physical goods you can expect to earn 3% - 5% of the selling price. That is just 30-50 cents on a 10 dollar item. This is why many affiliates concentrate on downloadable items such as ebooks and software, where the payouts are more often around 50%.
- Usually you have to wait and rely on the product owner to pay you. In some cases they might go out of business and you never get paid. You also have to trust their tracking system to accurately record when you referred someone to their site. Many affiliates prefer to work with Clickbank which is an independent retailer and you can rely on them to send you a cheque every 2 weeks when it is due.
- Your income will need time to build up. You have to keep on working at your chosen method, adding more methods of driving traffic and perhaps more affiliate products, and gradually your income should increase. It will take at least a few months before you can expect to replace your day job. But unlike in your day job, from that point your income should continue to grow.
Many people say that to really have a high income online business you should have your own products, but in fact many affiliates do build up to six or even seven figure incomes. The difference is that most people who buy through an affiliate are not even aware that the affiliate exists. If this is attractive to you, more than having a high profile and running a company with staff, then you probably want to look seriously at affiliate marketing.
